According to Alphanews, the case is scheduled to be transferred to the Criminal Court on September 9. Today, the Nicosia District Court ruled that the businessman will remain in custody until that date.
It is reported that the businessman's sons, 51-year-old Afik Yaakov and 49-year-old Michael Mistriel Aykut, who are also part of the company's management, are wanted.
Recall that the head of Afik Group was arrested on June 7 at the Dherynia checkpoint while crossing from the TRNC to the Republic of Cyprus. According to local media, he was planning to fly to Israel via Larnaca Airport.
The 74-year-old businessman, a citizen of Turkey and the TRNC, is suspected of selling Greek real estate in the TRNC without the owners' knowledge. The court initially ruled for a five-day arrest, which was then extended for another six days. Yesterday, this period expired.
In a statement, Afik Group said that the arrest of the top manager was unfair and related to political problems and non-recognition between the countries. The company claims that all its actions are legal and not related to disputes between the governments.
